ON TOUR WITH ZACH TOP AND RILEY GREEN
RECENT RYMAN AUDITORIUM GIG LEAVES AMERICAN SONGWRITER DECLARING: “ZACH TOP AND JAKE WORTHINGTON MAY HAVE SINGLE-HANDEDLY REVIVED TRADITIONAL COUNTRY”
STEPPED INTO OPRY CIRCLE ON EVE OF SONG RELEASE (3/13)
NASHVILLE, TENN. – Just hours after performing the song in country music’s hallowed Circle at the Grand Ole Opry, Big Loud Texas country traditionalist Jake Worthington, known for his steel-soaked catalog of “music undaunted by time” (The Tennessean), releases “I’m The One (feat. Marty Stuart).”
The La Porte, Texas native wrote the song alongside Stuart and Jenna LaMaster with legendary hall-of-famer Stuart lending his masterful guitar talents to the song. Embracing the twanging sensibilities of Worthington, “I’m The One” shines as the first release since Worthington’s down-on-your-luck duet “Hello Shitty Day” with superstar Miranda Lambert.
With more new music on the horizon, “I’m The One” proves why Worthington is “infinitely valued as a fundamental part of the neotraditional movement afoot again in country music” (The Tennessean) and “his signature country-as-cornbread charm” (MusicRow) is front and center:
If she’s looking for a true blue, dirt road charmer
A blue blooded, mean business, knight in shining armor
To love you with the love that’s hotter than the sun
I’m the one, I’m the one, I’m the one
Listen to “I’m The One (feat. Marty Stuart)” here.
In addition to his set at the Opry last night (3/13), Worthington opened for Zach Top at Ryman Auditorium at the end of last month, performing favorites from his self-titled debut album of “gorgeous beer-joint purism” (Texas Monthly) like “Next New Thing,” “Night Time Is My Time,” and waltzing “State You Left Me In,” leading American Songwriter to declare: “Zach Top and Jake Worthington may have single-handedly revived traditional country.”
Worthington will continue to tour supporting Top and Riley Green throughout the spring. For tour dates, please visit jakeworthington.com.
ABOUT JAKE WORTHINGTON
For Big Loud Texas traditionalist Jake Worthington, country music is in his DNA. The La Porte, Texas native was raised on his grandfather’s porch performances of Ray Price, Merle Haggard, and George Jones, and soon picked up his own Gibson acoustic to realize the breadth of his soon-to-be-classic, wide, and wild voice. Now, Worthington breathes fresh life into dance halls, beer joints, and ballrooms from Texas to Tennessee with his 13-song, self-penned debut, Jake Worthington, recent Miranda Lambert collaboration “Hello Shitty Day,” and latest “I’m The One (feat. Marty Stuart).” Captivating the masses with his honky-tonk stylings, the singer-songwriter has brought two-step anthems to venues across the country, opening for Lambert, Cody Johnson, Lainey Wilson, Riley Green, Pat Green, Hank Williams Jr., ERNEST, Ian Munsick, and more. Worthington is also a sought-after duet partner across the Nashville landscape, including guest spots on Brooks and Dunn’s Reboot II on “I’ll Never Forgive My Heart,” HIXTAPE: Vol. 3: DIFFTAPE with Reba McEntire on “Is It Cold In Here,” ERNEST’s 2023 extension FLOWER SHOPS (THE ALBUM): Two Dozen Roses on “Heartache In My 100 Proof,” and more. “I believe in country music as much as I believe in my next breath,” Worthington declares, and “blame it on my raising, but I think there ought to be room for country in country music.”
