“WITH A CREATIVE CHEMISTRY SO POTENT YOU CAN ALMOST SEE SPARKS, THELMA & JAMES ARE A MUCH-NEEDED NEW DUO IN COUNTRY MUSIC” – GRAMMY.COM

NASHVILLE, TENN. – For their first offering this year, undeniable duo Thelma & James release “If You Ain’t In Love By Now” on the eve of Valentine’s Day. The song’s release follows fan and artist-peer demand after gaining organic momentum online. The songbirds will debut “If You Ain’t In Love By Now” for the first time live tomorrow on the hallowed Grand Ole Opry stage.
“We get excited about a lot of the songs that we write but there’s something about ‘If You Ain’t In Love By Now’ that’s really stuck with us,” shares Thelma & James. “The day we wrote it on the drive back to the house we kept listening to the voice note over and over. We’re hoping you guys like it as much as we do. We’re excited about this next chapter. We’re excited about this song.”
Penned alongside Josh Osborne and Pete Good, the pair lament over the pain of stunted emotion on the new song:
If you ain’t in love by now
Then maybe I’m the reason
It aint worked out
‘Cause you can’t forget the feeling
Thelma & James released their debut EP Starting Over last fall. The whirlwind year as a duo happened unexpectedly – not realizing the best writing partner was right under their noses the whole time, their first co-write in over a decade produced viral track “Happy Ever After You” that Billboard notes as a “pared-back ballad of love undimmed by the time and miles between.” The impromptu song made waves online with support from Kendall Jenner, John Mayer, Luke Combs and more. From there the duo began forging a musical path that led Atwood Magazine to detail them as having “heartbreak in their harmonies and fire in their veins.”
Taking their catalog of growing acclaim on the road, Thelma & James will join Luke Combs for his My Kinda Saturday Night Tour hitting stadiums across North America this spring, followed by festivals in the summer. For more information or tickets, visit thelmaandjames.com.

Evolving organically from an impromptu video that earned praise from fellow artists like John Mayer, Luke Combs, Brandi Carlile and more, the song has since garnered over 20 million streams since its release. The pair signed to Big Loud Records in 2025 are doubling down on their fortuitous new musical chapter with the release of debut EP Starting Over and most recent “If You Ain’t In Love By Now.”
