NASHVILLE, TENN. – Today Big Loud Texas country traditionalist Jake Worthington releases swaying new ballad “Not Like I Used To,” flanked by steel and fiddle. The cover art features a portrait shot by legendary hall-of-famer and recent collaborator Marty Stuart. The song itself is marked by Worthington’s signature, “confident, assured style — seemingly frozen in amber, floating in dive-bar dust” (The Tennessean).

“It’s a song about the way it was,” Worthington shares. “It’s the fourth song we’re putting out from the upcoming project. Brand new country song from the same ole country boy.”

Worthington penned “Not Like I Used To” alongside Monty Criswell and Derek George. Exemplifying his commitment to authentic Texas country with a deep devotion to the genre’s heritage” (Holler), the song laments a great love gone by:

“I knew every move

What made her laugh

What made her cry

And even though

She let me go

I’m still holding her tight…

But not like I used to

Not like I did once upon a time

Not like I used to

When she was mine”

Today’s release follows the success of recent tongue-in-cheek toe-tapper It Ain’t The Whiskey” that has racked up over 40 million listens. Earlier this year, the Texas native released I’m The One (feat. Marty Stuart) – and was joined by superstar Miranda Lambert last fall for Hello Shitty Day.”

Announced today, Worthington will join Zach Top as direct support on all dates of the Cold Beer & Country Music Tour – with notable stops at beloved venues like Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Sept. 28 and 29. On sale begins June 27.

Displaying his honky-tonk stylings on CMA Fest stages earlier this month, Billboard declared that Worthington, “conjured up the ghosts of country legends like George Jones and Waylon Jennings with his twangy, authentic traditionalism and big voice,” during his set. He will continue to bring pure country anthems to venues across the country, including a run of home-state shows dubbed Jake Worthington’s Texas Two Step, followed by supporting slots on Jon Pardi’s Honkytonk Hollywood Tour and Top’s Cold Beer & Country Music Tour. ABOUT JAKE WORTHINGTON

For Big Loud Texas traditionalist Jake Worthington, country music is in his DNA. The La Porte, Texas native was raised on his grandfather’s porch performances of Ray Price, Merle Haggard, and George Jones, and soon picked up his own Gibson acoustic to realize the breadth of his soon-to-be-classic, wide, and wild voice. Now, Worthington breathes fresh life into dance halls, beer joints, and ballrooms from Texas to Tennessee with his 13-song, self-penned debut, Jake Worthington, recent Miranda Lambert collaboration “Hello Shitty Day,” “I’m The One (feat. Marty Stuart),” “It Ain’t The Whiskey” and latest “Not Like I Used To.” Captivating the masses with his honky-tonk stylings, the singer-songwriter has brought two-step anthems to venues across the country, opening for Lambert, Cody Johnson, Lainey Wilson, Riley Green, Pat Green, Hank Williams Jr., ERNEST, Ian Munsick and more. Worthington is also a sought-after duet partner across the Nashville landscape, including guest spots on Brooks and Dunn’s Reboot II on “I’ll Never Forgive My Heart,” HIXTAPE: Vol. 3: DIFFTAPE with Reba McEntire on “Is It Cold In Here,” ERNEST’s 2023 extension FLOWER SHOPS (THE ALBUM): Two Dozen Roses on “Heartache In My 100 Proof,” and more. “I believe in country music as much as I believe in my next breath,” Worthington declares, and “blame it on my raising, but I think there ought to be room for country in country music.”
