Chart-topping country duo Florida Georgia Line is no stranger to unexpected, genre-hopping collaborations. So while most country artists would seem out of place onstage with an ultra-smooth, R&B stalwart like John Legend, this Billboard Music Awards performance just felt like another day at the office for ol’ FGL.
Okay, it was still pretty unexpected. The whole thing began a lot like most of Legend’s performances, with the musician seated at a glistening grand piano, singing and playing his ballad “Surefire.” But then, Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley appeared, and the trio bridged expertly into FGL’s hit song “H.O.L.Y.”
