NASHVILLE, TENN. – Today Big Loud Records adds to its chart-topping, independent roster with the signing of beach-folk band The 502s. Affectionately known as “the happiest band on Earth,” the seasonal fun kicks off with the release of their first song via Big Loud Records, “Summer Fling,” out now.

“The whole Big Loud team has believed in The 502s in a way that’s been both humbling and energizing,” shares The 502s. “They see our vision and share in the joy we try to bring to everything we do. It’s rare to find people who just get you—and we’re lucky to have found that in Seth, Patch, Sara, Amy and the rest of the Big Loud crew.”

“Big Loud is thrilled to partner with The 502s in this next chapter,” EVP / GM of Big Loud Patch Culbertson adds. “With infectious music, a clear artistic vision, and unbridled joy that carries from studio to stage, we can’t wait for the world to hear what they’ve got on deck!”

Written solely by lead singer Ed Isola, “Summer Fling” is highlighted by its chipper sonics of banjo and xylophone to remind listeners what folk music that went to the beach sounds like and that “Come fall it’ll fall apart / Summer love ain’t for the faint of heart.” The band recently performed the new track on Good Morning America alongside their viral splash “Just A Little While” that racked up 150 million streams to date.

“’Summer Fling’ is one of those songs that basically wrote itself,” Isola shares. “It’s a part-fact, part-fiction love story inspired by all the times my friends and I have fallen a little too fast for someone we just met. It’s not always smooth sailing—but summer love is as classic as ice cream cones and sunburns.”

Hailing from Florida, The 502s draw inspiration from the likes of Mumford & Sons and The Avett Brothers. Their sunshine-y artistry is marked by their live show with “rambunctious energy, stomping sounds, blaring trumpets, and charismatic personalities” (Cowboys & Indians). The group consists of five members: Ed Isola (lead vocals, banjo, acoustic guitar), Joe Capati (saxophone, trumpet, harmony vocals), Sean Froelich (drums, percussion), Nick Dallas (bass, harmony vocals) and Graci Phillips (guitar).

The band who has “made a name for itself by simply being happy” (Kansas City Pitch), brought the sunshine to Boston Calling last weekend with an infectious set of breezy banjos and shout-along choruses. Maintaining a heavy touring presence, including a sold-out run last fall, The 502s will continue to take their energetic live show on the road through the summer with dates alongside Lake Street Dive and at festivals including Bourbon & Beyond, Borderland Music Festival, Iron Blossom Festival and more.
