Introducing… Chris Lane: Part 1

When Chris Lane looked to his future, he saw himself playing baseball professionally. However, after many surgeries on his knees, his future in sports was looking bleak.

“I grew up playing football and baseball and my real dream was to play professional baseball. I moved on to play college baseball with my identical twin brother, who later got drafted to go play professionally. I didn’t because I had so many knee surgeries and all kinds of other surgeries that hurt my chances at that,” Chris Lane told Sounds Like Nashville during a shoot in Nashville’s Acme Feed & Seed.

As devastating as that realization was, Lane found inspiration from a country music superstar… Keith Urban.

“I went to a few Keith Urban concerts and I was inspired by Keith Urban to want to learn how to play the guitar and I knew enough chords that I started to figure out how to sing and play at the same time,” he explained. “I thought I was decent enough that I could start a cover band, so I did that in North Carolina, where I was living at and here I am today. It’s crazy.”

Lane spent the next few years busting his “hind end” booking his own shows and is now getting to see his dream come to fruition.

“I didn’t know any of this would happen. You hope for it, but you just never know, so it feels really good to put in that much hard work,” he added. “You know, for me, seeing it happen in front of my face at shows when people show up and they’re screaming the words to the songs and at this point, I can hold the microphone out and they can sing it. It’s like the coolest thing in the world.”

His hard work has resulted in a Top 5 single with “Fix,” his first full-length album Girl Problems and a slot on Rascal Flatts’ Rhythm & Roots Tour.
