NASHVILLE, TENN. – Introducing the next chapter of his lauded, loaded discography today, “one of the most recognized names in country music” (GRAMMY.com), HARDY, is back with a song that he calls “the bravest, or at least the most creative, thing that I’ve done so far.”
An eight-minute, multi-genre opus, “Man In The Box” finds HARDY at his creative best – “a Nashville wildcard” (Rolling Stone) and “a high concept craftsman” (The New Yorker) weaving the tapestry of his influences together with a story song that only he could conceive.
Co-produced by HARDY and David Garcia, written by HARDY, Garcia, Chase McGill, and Hunter Phelps, “Man In The Box” opens peacefully and closes prayerfully; a four-cornered trip sketching out the shape of HARDY’s artistry. From charged-up country to buzzsaw grunge, masterful singer-songwriter acoustics to bravado-filled soul, “Man In The Box” is a brilliant, winking amalgamation of what’s made him “one of Nashville’s most prolific, versatile voices” (Billboard).
“I’m very proud of this song,” HARDY shares. “It’s by far, I think, the bravest, or at least the most creative, thing that I’ve done so far. Be prepared, it’s very different – it’s very long, and it’s a journey.”
