NASHVILLE, TENN. – On the heels of multiple Grammy® nominations and mega co-writes on Cowboy Carter (“TEXAS HOLD ‘EM,” “16 CARRIAGES”) and “luther” (currently in its 13th week at #1), the A-list’s biggest secret weapon, Ink, has stepped out from behind her golden pen to deliver her highly anticipated Big Loud Records/Electric Feel Records debut, “Turquoise Cowboy.” Rolling Stone proclaims, “with ‘Turquoise Cowboy,’ Ink is ready to fully dive into her own artistry” and describes the accompanying official visual as a “cinematic video embracing her over-the-top, fashion-forward aesthetic as she brings the lyrics to life.” Watch it here.

“’Turquoise Cowboy’ is my anthem. It’s not just a song—it’s my silhouette in sound,” says Ink. “This is for the outlaws who shine differently. The ones who turned pain into presence. I wrote ‘Turquoise Cowboy’ as a reminder that style, soul, and survival can ride in the same saddle. I’m not just wearing turquoise…I am the turquoise. Rare, raw, and impossible to ignore.”

“Turquoise Cowboy” is one of the first records that came out of a recent trip to Nashville. Penning the stormy, sweeping song with co-writers Jesse Frasure (Kane Brown, Jelly Roll) and Trannie Anderson (Lainey Wilson, Dan + Shay). Ink, a Georgia-raised multi-hyphenate, incorporates twanging instrumentation with her rhythmic and lyrical sensibilities on the new song – a reflection of her extensive creative success as a collaborator, from a feature on Childish Gambino’s 2020 single “Psilocybae (Millennial Love)” to studio time writing with Beyoncé on her blockbuster albums Renaissance and Cowboy Carter – and recently her six cuts on Kendrick Lamar’s smash gnx.

Blending dusty acoustic guitar riffs with hip-hop grit and cinematic soul, “Turquoise Cowboy” is more than a song – it’s a declaration. Anchored by Ink’s raw storytelling and unmistakable tone, the track introduces a new kind of outlaw: one who rides between tradition and rebellion, armed with turquoise jewelry, black cowboy boots and a heart full of fire.

Ink now steps into the spotlight with a record that’s as personal as it is powerful. Produced by Jesse Frasure, “Turquoise Cowboy” sounds like the open road – wild, soulful and drenched in rhythm.

From street performer to global visionary, Ink brings the same fire that fueled her viral acoustic performances to a new era of sonic storytelling. With visuals inspired by Western cinema, Black cowgirl heritage and high fashion, the “Turquoise Cowboy” campaign signals the start of something seismic.

When it comes to boundaryless country music, Ink is the moment. As one of the go-to lyrical sharpshooters, she’s set to combine her southern roots and storytelling approach with her ability to write songs that appeal to the masses. The Hollywood Reporter describes Ink’s work as “a mix of coastal and Nashville representation that may go beyond the mainstream country business.” An effort that seeks to continue pushing the genre forward and broader.

Originally born in Frankfurt, Germany – before her mother’s military career moved her family to Columbus, GA – and with roots that run deep in the Cherokee and Blackfoot indigenous tribes, Ink’s unique upbringing has influenced her music from a truly distinct perspective. Her musical journey began when she taught herself guitar and hit the city’s streets taking her music to whoever would listen. “I was playing for change, selling CDs, going straight to the people,” she recalls, and with plenty of road-tested experience under her belt Ink eventually reached out to veteran songwriter James Faunteroy online. “He’d give me pointers and tips, which was cool because he was one of my favorite songwriters,” she says. “It was a good source of inspiration for me. He was a mentor to me when I didn’t really know anybody.”

Ink counts influences ranging from R&B songwriters like Babyface and Tony Henry and the Southern rock of Creedence Clearwater Revival to the confessional songwriting of Lauryn Hill and the godmother of rock’n’roll herself, Sister Rosetta Tharpe.
