NASHVILLE, TENN. – Today country provocateur Coleman Jennings releases “Jamie,” his second single out via Big Loud Records / Mercury Records. The new song rich with ’70s-style harmony was solely written by Jennings and produced by lauded music vet Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson).

“Writing on the banjo seems to bring out a different type of song than the guitar does. ‘Jamie’ follows in that principle, upbeat and bluegrassy, as a banjo piece should be,” Jennings shares. Glad to have brought it to life in the studio with Dave Cobb, and I’m excited to share it.

The Texas native’s new “Jamie” is a stark, striking effort exuding originality. With a hypnotic vibrato made to cut through the haze of modern life, and an old-school dedication to Western twang, Jennings recently made his label debut with “Head Spinning.” About the song Country Central concludes: “with hints of Willie Nelson in the phrasing and timbre… ‘Head Spinning’ is an artistic statement from Coleman Jennings; he’s actively carving out a lane that reveres tradition while remaining unafraid to blur its edges.”

Never afraid to call out the dull conventionality of commercial pop and with all the elements of modern-day troubadour, Jennings’ artistry explores Western folk, honky tonk, outlaw and Americana, while also tapping old time and bluegrass. Through it all runs a lyrical whimsy and effortless, agile guitar playing and otherworldly vocal tremor. A student of music, Jennings names inspirations like John Denver, Bob Dylan, Townes Van Zandt, The Eagles, Blaze Foley, John Hartford and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Jennings will take the stage next week for sets in Texas with Ray Wylie Hubbard followed by shows throughout California opening for William Clark Green including a stop at West Hollywood’s iconic Troubadour. For more information or tickets visit coleman-jennings.com.

ABOUT COLEMAN JENNINGS

With a hypnotic vibrato made to cut through the haze of modern life, and an old-school dedication to Western twang, Coleman Jennings can seem like a conduit to a different time – or even, a different spiritual plane. But as the country provocateur and Big Loud / Mercury Records singer-songwriter says, his music is no echo of the past. More like a fierce statement of originality, crafted to stand out… and shake you to your core. Never afraid to call out the dull conventionality of commercial pop, the Texas native is a student of music with inspirations like John Denver, Bob Dylan, Townes Van Zandt, The Eagles, Blaze Foley, John Hartford, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Diving deep into guitar while in high school, the gritty, unvarnished realism of roots poet Blaze Foley sparked an obsession with the art of country music, and stoked an anti-establishment fire which still burns. Honing a modern-classic sound, Jennings’ 2024 EP Wildflowers & Tears earned him comparisons to Willie Nelson and Townes Van Zandt, now a new chapter begins. Working with GRAMMY®-winning producer Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson), Jennings raises his distinctive voice for all to hear on his debut single, “Head Spinning,” which speaks to Jennings’ originality and captures the country-folk spirit.
