FORTHCOMING ALBUM EASY STREET SET FOR SEPTEMBER 5
NASHVILLE, TENN. – Today beach-folk band The 502s offer another song from their upcoming Easy Street album (due 9/5) with “Quicksand,” out now. Known for their high-energy music and “happiest band on earth” appeal, the new song presents one of the most heavy-hearted songs so far in The 502s’ repertoire: an intimate reflection on a relationship’s slow fade, graced with aching harmonies and gorgeously haunting synth tones.
“It’s a different mood from most of the album, but it felt important to recognize that we all go through hard times,” share The 502s. “We’ve all fallen out of love, and being able to open up about your pain is a huge part of getting to a better place.”
Written solely by lead vocalist and banjo / guitar player Ed Isola, the new song vividly depicts a relationship on thin ice, or better yet quicksand. The emotive lyrics are met with the layered instrumentation of the tight knit band of five:
Every move I make seems to be a mistake
I keep wondering how long I’ll fall
You’re the only thing I seem to need
But you don’t want me at all
…The more I try, the more it seems
The more I’m drowned in you and me
It’s like our love is quicksand
Listen to “Quicksand” here.
Hailing from Florida, the band draws inspiration from the likes of Mumford & Sons and The Avett Brothers infusing their rambunctious work with “stomping sounds, blaring trumpets, and charismatic personalities” (Cowboys & Indians). The group of “Beach Folk trailblazers” (Holler) consists of five members: Ed Isola (lead vocals, banjo, acoustic guitar), Joe Capati (saxophone, trumpet, harmony vocals), Sean Froelich (drums, percussion), Nick Dallas (bass, harmony vocals) and Graci Phillips (guitar).
Continuing to make a name for themselves, The 502s will embark on their headlining Easy Street Tour this fall. The tour will take the band to iconic venues throughout North America – including New York’s Irving Plaza and West Hollywood’s Troubadour.
