Dexter and The Moonrocks are a sub-genre all their own. Fusing the sounds of red dirt country from their Abilene, Texas roots with Southern alt / alt-rock influences, they’ve cultivated their trailblazing, fan-labeled “Western Space Grunge” sound meticulously. Inspired by artists ranging from Rainbow Kitten Surprise and Foo Fighters to Tyler Childers and Colter Wall, the self-proclaimed “sad space cowboys” have found a distinct niche, quickly piquing the interest of an incredible community of fans with their edgy take on southern rock. Showcasing their fresh, unconventional sound on self-released and self-titled debut EP Dexter and The Moonrocks, the band connects instantly, moving people with their widely resonant lyrics on six tracks that explode with emotion, conviction, and energy. Bringing the music to fans, they headlined venues nationwide in 2023, creating a live experience as unique as their sound. Now, the band kicks off their biggest year yet, gearing up to release new music in 2024 as the flagship signing at Severance Records, an imprint of Big Loud Records in association with Big Loud Rock.
