NASHVILLE, TENN. – Back in January 2023, Charles Wesley Godwin and his band the Allegheny High headed into the studio to create what would become his latest album, Family Ties (released last week via Big Loud Records). Still unsigned, and with longtime producer and Allegheny High guitarist Al Torrence once again at the helm, Godwin and the band went into his dream studio, Echo Mountain in Asheville, N.C. Two weeks later, they came out with the masterful 19-song Family Ties, and the entire process was captured by director Louie Nice in the “Making of Family Ties” documentary. The film gives fans a fly-on-the-wall look at Godwin and the Allegheny High working hard to meet the moment, with the stunning Echo Mountain as a backdrop.
Released this past Friday, Family Ties has been met with a wave of support from press, radio, streaming, and fans alike. Family Ties debuted at No. 6 on Spotify’s all-genre Top Albums Debut USA chart this week, and has planted itself in the top 10 on the Apple Music Country Albums chart since the day of release. Godwin graces the cover of Spotify’s New Boots and Indigo playlists, as well as Amazon Music’s Brushland playlist and Pandora’s This Year in Americana playlist. Godwin can also be spotted on three billboards in Nashville thanks to the folks at Spotify and Amazon Music. Family Ties has burst onto the Americana radio charts, jumping to No. 32 on the album chart, with “All Again” rising to No. 21 on the singles chart, both after just three weeks.
EARLY ACCLAIM FOR GODWIN + HIS FAMILY TIES

“An artist whose rootsy sound certainly has a way of captivating the ears of anyone who hears it.” – People
“Godwin’s baritone voice is rugged and, most importantly, believable, as he spins these tales of friends and relations, all seemingly ripped from the pages of his old photo albums…meticulous, story-telling lyrics.” – Holler.
“Brilliantly written, lovingly produced, and passionately performed…A work that feels as epic as it does expansive and complete.” – Saving Country Music
“Easily a favorite for the best album of 2023.” – Whiskey Riff
“Wide-ranging emotional impact under Charles’ distinctive voice” – BrooklynVegan
“Continues his ascent as a songwriter in league with current genre greats, with skill to match his scope and ambition.” – Country Universe
Godwin is currently on the front end of a Fall headline tour that runs through the end of the year. Many of the shows are already sold out, including Godwin’s first-ever headline shows at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tenn. on Dec. 7 – 8, and four shows in his hometown of Morgantown, W.V.
