A Belmont University graduate and Brentwood, TN native, John Byron has been writing songs since he was 15 years old. At that time his grandfather showed him a few chords on the guitar and encouraged him to write a song. At their next visit, John played his original song, “My Old Man” and soon after taught himself to play “Just To See You Smile” (Tim McGraw), as his true interests began to take shape. John credits an open mic night at Puckett’s/Leiper’s Fork for his first-time connecting emotionally with an audience -after playing the song he wrote for his grandfather and seeing the crowd react to his words. It was at this time that he knew that he wanted to be a songwriter. He started his career writing mostly rap songs that shaped him as a topliner, while he was continually thinking of unique phrases and melodies that he could put to tracks and demos. In 2020, John signed a publishing deal with Big Loud and has since had songs released by Morgan Wallen (“865”), Sean Stemaly (“Hello, You Up”) and Chris Lane (“Summer Job Money”).
